          • Connie Garcia, CNM
            Connie Garcia, CNM

Connie began her health care career as an obstetrics and birth center nurse in Michigan where she was also a site visitor with the Commission for Accreditation of Birth Centers.  She actually met the Bethany Birth Center staff as a site visitor, and then came a move to Phoenix in 1998 to start her midwifery career here!  (At the time, Bethany Women’s Healthcare maintained its own Birth Center and as a nurse-midwifery student, Connie spent a month working with the outstanding CNMs and physician staff preparing for her own new beginning.)  It was at Bethany Women’s Healthcare that she became  committed to the women and families of Phoenix!

After working here full-time for nearly ten years, Connie left for a period of time to work at a high-risk hospital and also started a CNM practice at a local birth center.  She has been back at Bethany Women’s Healthcare for three years now.  Currently, she is here as a staff CNM working only in the office.  Due to other commitments, she cannot be on-call for births at Abrazo Central Hospital, although she really misses this aspect of her job. Bilingual in Spanish and English, Connie continues to have a strong desire to support the women of this community as they navigate their own path through pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond into the menopause years.

In her off-hours, Connie spends time with her husband, 5 adult children and 10+ grandchildren.  Her family is her life!  She enjoys cooking, reading, singing, sewing, napping with grandbabies, and yes, Minecraft!

                Jeanene Traynor, WHNP-BC

Jeanene earned her nursing degree at Glendale Community College.  Working as a registered nurse for several local hospitals, she gained experience in a number of specialties including postpartum, operating room, and hospice.  Those experiences literally covered a life-time of care and led her back toward her first love:  moms and babies in labor and delivery!  Jeanene’s skills coupled with patient care in such a wide variety of nursing environments prepared her well for returning to the University of Phoenix in 1993 to earn her degree as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

After working in valley hospitals, Jeanene transitioned to in-office women’s healthcare which included all aspects of obstetrics.  Jeanene brings that extra something special to her patients:  top-notch skilled care, a bit of mothering, and healthcare wisdom.  She has now worked at Bethany Women’s Healthcare for a number of years and she enjoys providing care across the spectrum of a woman’s lifetime.  Maintaining her continuing education credits keeps her on top of the latest developments.

Jeanene has lived in the Valley of the Sun for most of her life.  Her three grown children all live in Phoenix, and she enjoys easy access to her grandchildren when she is not providing patient care.  Her husband, David, is retired.  Her hobbies include gardening, travel, and trying out the recipes that she has collected over a lifetime.
